Position Description
POSITIONS WILL BE SCREENED ON A REGULAR BASIS UNTIL ALL POSITIONS ARE FILLED: Please allow up to two weeks for screening of application materials. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Natividad is looking to fill several temporary positions for Food Service Worker II, to perform a combination of skilled and semiskilled duties on a relatively regular basis such as baking, preparing special diet foods, etc. This incumbent may oversee a small group of Food Service Workers I's in the preparation and serving of food.
Examples of Duties

SIGNIFICANT RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION

  • Read, understand and follow recipes and to prepare food in a tasty and attractive manner.
  • Judge the quantities of food required to serve a given number and to prepare food with a minimum of waste.
  • Organize and oversee the work of others.
  • Comprehend, read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to follow oral and written instructions to complete time and other administrative forms or records.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, members of the public and others contacted through the course of work; respond in a positive manner to supervision and direction; and attend and perform duties on a regular, reliable and consistent basis.
  • Learn large-scale kitchen procedures.

Will have a proven track record demonstrating the following:

Thorough Knowledge of:

  • The methods of preparing food in large quantities.
  • Kitchen sanitation and safety measure used in the operation, cleaning and care of utensils, equipment and work areas.

Skill and Ability to:

  • Read, understand and follow recipes and to prepare food in a tasty and attractive manner.
  • Judge the quantities of food required to serve a given number and to prepare food with a minimum of waste.
  • Organize and oversee the work of others.
  • Comprehend, read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to follow oral and written instructions to complete time and other administrative forms or records.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers, members of the public and others contacted through the course of work; respond in a positive manner to supervision and direction; and attend and perform duties on a regular, reliable and consistent basis.
  • Learn large-scale kitchen procedures.

*Relevant work experience in a hospital setting is highly desirable

An example of a way these requirements listed above may typically be acquired is:
One (1) year of full-time experience as a Food Service Worker I

Additional Information

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Natividad requires that all incumbents pass a pre-employment physical/medical assessment.
  • Natividad will conduct a thorough background and reference check process which includes a Department of Justice fingerprint check.
  • Employees who drive a County business to carry out job related duties must posses a valid CA Driver License for the class vehicle driven.
  • Employees must have and show their original Social Security Card and a valid CA Driver License or CA State ID prior to the first day of work.
  • Incumbents may be required to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays; and work with potentially hazardous and infectious substances.

2. QUALIFICATIONS APPRAISAL: Completed application materials will be competitively evaluated. The best-qualified applicants will be invited to participate further in the process.
3. QUALIFICATIONS ASSESSMENT: To further assess applicants' possession of required qualifications, this process may include an oral examination, pre-exam exercise, performance exam, or physical ability exam.
4. ELIGIBLE LIST: Applicants successful in the Qualifications Assessment process will be placed on an eligible list for possible final selection interview. This eligible list will be used to fill current and future permanent & temporary vacancies.
