Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital Human Resources is accepting applications for multiple Limited-Term, Full-Time Food Service Technician I. The vacancies exist in the Nutrition Services Department, under the supervision of the Food Service Supervisor I.

The Food Service Technician I responsibilities are to serve or assist with the preparation of food and beverages; to clean and maintain food service equipment, utensils and work areas as required; to assist in maintaining safety, sanitation, and infection control standards at appropriate level. To have the ability to portion servings, follow directions, keep simple records, read and write at a level appropriate to the classification. To instruct and to work with helpers from the patient population.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.

Special Requirements

Effective October 1, 2021, in accordance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) State Public Health Order of August 5, 2021, all workforce members in DSH state hospitals are required to be fully vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccination regimen. Prior to your first day, you will be required to fill out a COVID-19 Vaccination Consent Form.

Effective February 1, 2022, in accordance with CDPH State Public Health Order of December 22, 2021, hospital workforce members currently eligible for booster doses must have received their booster dose.

  • If you are fully vaccinated, you must provide evidence of vaccination prior to your start date.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, you have the option to receive a vaccine from one of the State Hospitals prior to your start date.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated and choose to complete a request for an exemption, you must submit this exemption and receive approval prior to your start date.
  • If you are not yet eligible for a booster, you must be in compliance no later than 15 days after the recommended timeframe for receiving the booster dose.

Please note that start dates will be dependent upon if and when proof of vaccination or exemption requirements are submitted timely and approved.
