Job Summary
Job Summary
This posting will be used to fill two vacancies. The location of these vacancies will be determined based on the top candidates.
This position will provide training, surveillance, consultation, guidance and evaluation of health care providers using specialized knowledge in Food Preparation Safety to assure a level of quality care based upon compliance with Federal and State laws and rules.
Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Evaluator training and providing technical assistance to Evaluators in the area of Food Preparation Safety in kitchens and dining areas where food is prepared and/or served to residents in HRD regulated facilities to ensure compliance with Minnesota Food Safety Code and federal food safety regulations.
  • Conducting evaluations of providers to ensure a level of compliance with State and Federal laws, rules, and coding and providing training to providers to prevent violations as related to applicable regulations and standards of practice.
  • Compiling and recording the information gathered to document conclusions reached and ascertain the degree of compliance with regulations.
  • Making periodic unannounced follow-up site visits to ascertain compliance with correction orders previously issued and conducting complaint investigations.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience conducting public health investigations related to food, beverage or lodging.
Valid Class D driver's license.
AND
One of the following:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Public Health, Food Science, Sanitary Science, Sanitary Engineering or related environmental health field.
OR
Registration as a Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist in the State of MN.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of clinical health care and the ability to interpret laws and regulations to make decisions about clinically related issues.
Strong writing skills with the ability to write reports and document issues.
Experience interviewing providers, clients, or others to obtain information needed to make decisions.
Ability to manage a large caseload, prioritize work, complete assignments in a timely manner.
Additional Requirements
Must successfully pass a background check.
